ACC Services

Specialist rehabilitation for people with complex injuries

Rope Neuro Rehabilitation is an experienced ACC rehabilitation provider based in Auckland.

We specialise in neurological and complex rehabilitation, supporting people to improve function, independence and participation following injury.

Our team works across the home, community and clinic, allowing rehabilitation to focus on the things that matter in everyday life – moving safely around the home, returning to usual activities, accessing the community, building confidence and reducing reliance on support.

Training for Independence

Rope Neuro Rehabilitation holds ACC’s Training for Independence – Te Ata Tū and Training for Independence – Te Ata Pō contracts.

These services allow us to provide coordinated rehabilitation for people whose injury has affected their ability to live independently and participate in everyday life.

Te Ata Tū

For people with moderate injury-related rehabilitation needs where the pathway towards recovery is reasonably established.

Rehabilitation may focus on:

  • mobility, strength, balance and physical function
  • personal and domestic activities
  • returning to community activities
  • fatigue and activity management
  • confidence following injury
  • equipment and environmental strategies
  • establishing routines and self-management
  • reducing reliance on ongoing support

Where appropriate, rehabilitation takes place in the person’s own environment so that strategies can be practised where they are actually needed.

Te Ata Pō

For people with significant or complex injury-related needs where rehabilitation may require a longer, more flexible or multidisciplinary approach.

This may include people with complex neurological, physical,
cognitive or functional changes following injury.

Our team can work together around the person’s individual
goals, adapting the rehabilitation programme as needs and abilities change.

Rehabilitation may include:

  • complex mobility and physical rehabilitation
  • transfers and movement strategies
  • upper limb and functional rehabilitation
  • activities of daily living
  • cognitive and functional strategies
  • community access and participation
  • equipment and environmental assessment
  • education and training for clients and whānau
  • development of sustainable routines and strategies
  • coordination with ACC and the wider rehabilitation team

Why Rope Neuro Rehabilitation?

Complex rehabilitation is what we do

Neurological rehabilitation is the core work of our practice.

Our clinicians have extensive experience working with people whose injuries affect several aspects of their life at once – mobility, balance, cognition, fatigue, confidence, communication, daily activities and participation.

This means we are comfortable working with rehabilitation that is not straightforward.

Rehabilitation in the real world

Successful rehabilitation is about more than what someone can do in a clinic.

Our therapists work with people in their home and community, allowing us to identify real barriers, practise meaningful activities and develop strategies that are practical and sustainable.

Multidisciplinary care:

Depending on the person’s needs, rehabilitation may involve input from different members of the rehabilitation team.

Our clinicians work collaboratively, sharing goals and coordinating intervention rather than treating each problem in isolation.

Goal-focused and practical

We focus rehabilitation around meaningful outcomes.

That could mean being able to shower independently, prepare a meal, walk to the local shops, manage fatigue, safely use public transport, return to a valued activity or reduce the amount of assistance required at home.

The goals are individual. The rehabilitation should be too.

Our team also provides services under:

Rope Neuro Rehabilitation also provides ACC-funded concussion rehabilitation.

Our multidisciplinary concussion service supports people experiencing ongoing symptoms following concussion, including difficulties with:

  • dizziness and balance
  • headaches
  • fatigue
  • exercise tolerance
  • concentration and cognition
  • return to work, study and everyday activities
