Alea Carson-Haunga

Occupational Therapist

Mālō e lelei, I am Alea Carson-Haunga. I have recently graduated through Otago Polytechnic studying in Kirikiriroa on the Wintec | Te Pūkenga campus; class of 2022.

My interest in neurological rehabilitation cemented in practical placements through study. I became fascinated with neuroplasticity and the different interventions therapists navigate to assist individuals’ function and overall quality of life. I have worked on the stroke ward at Waikato Hospital, experienced community Occupational Therapy at Waiheke Health Trust and have been a part of creating a sensory modulation program for community partners in Kirikiriroa.

When I am not working, I enjoy time spent with loved ones, exploring the outdoors through plant and species identification, swimming, and hikes, and I enjoy art & crafts.
